D. Edward Davis (b. 1980) is a composer/sound-artist who lives and works in Brooklyn, New York. His works for installation, performance, and CD playback focus on the extensive sonic palette made possible by the combination of computers and musical instruments. In some instances, the music is subjected to real-time computer processing, while in other works, prerecorded electronic sounds serve as a layered backdrop for live instrumentalists. Davis's music has been performed both in the USA and internationally, with recent performances and installations in New York, San Francisco, and Chicago, as well as Finland, Mexico, Japan, and Germany (at the Internationale Ferienkurse fur Neue Musik in Darmstadt 2002). His music has been performed by numerous soloists and ensembles including Adam Meyer, Mark Carlson, Paul Carlson, Rex Martin, Ensemble Chronophonie, the International Contemporary Ensemble, and the New York Miniaturist Ensemble. Davis holds a Bachelor's Degree from Northwestern University and a Master's Degree from Brooklyn College where he studied composition with Amnon Wolman and David Grubbs.
